“I came here three years ago to be with my daughter. She died two years ago. I enrolled my
granddaughter, Amy, at an ACUE school. Other schools and teachers had given up on her. She didn’t
care much about school or much about almost anything. At this school they welcomed her with open
arms. She gave the secretary a smile. That was something new for her and very rare. In one year she
learned how to read. She learned to get along. Her attitude changed. Now – she has friends. She
respects her teachers. She prays. Change is a beautiful thing! Many of these kids don’t have much;
they don’t ask for much, but they are asking for a chance!”

Can you imagine having the power to make such an impact in the life of a child?

Every day, people like you are helping us celebrate the accomplishments of the children who attend
Diocesan urban schools by giving to the Celebrate the Children’s fund to support tuition assistance.
Within the schools’ family-like atmosphere children like Amy are nurtured in a safe, cooperative learning
environment where they receive personal attention and encounter stability, respect, and the prospect of a
bright future.

The Alliance for Catholic Urban Education (ACUE) Consortium of elementary schools, which includes
Holy Cross, Holy Family, Holy Trinity, Prince of Peace, St. Anthony and St. Augustine, was formed in
November 2006 by Bishop Roger Foys to improve organizational effectiveness and to work toward
financial stability as ways to continue Catholic education for urban families. ACUE is committed to
keeping a Catholic education within reach for all children, equipping them with the skills necessary to
become a part of the next generation of leaders for the Northern Kentucky community.

A gift to the ACUE school of your choice is your chance to help a family who might otherwise not be able
to afford tuition in order for their children to receive a quality Catholic education. I invite you to accept the
challenge to witness God’s light shining through the children and families we serve. There is nothing
quite like the excitement, understanding, and joy on the faces of children as they discover worlds
previously unknown.

I hope you will choose to join us in experiencing a child’s journey through faith and education. It is truly
the power of many working together that helps fulfill dreams and enrich the lives of all who are touched by
an ACUE school.

Sincerely,

Rita Brink, OSB
